HAZER GROUP MANAGEMENT UPDATE AND NEW APPOINTMENT
PERTH, 7[th] APRIL 2017: Hazer Group Ltd (“Hazer” or “the Company”) (ASX:HZR, HZRO) is pleased to announce that the Company has secured the services and expertise of Mr Cobus Malherbe, a senior Australian engineering, operations and process development professional, to join the Company in the newly created role of General Manager – Process Development.
Cobus is a Chartered Chemical Engineer, registered with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland, with a Masters in Chemical Engineering and over 20 years of international engineering and team management experience within the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
Cobus most recently provided professional services to Santos Ltd[‡] as Engineering Superintendent, tasked with management of front-line technical, engineering and reliability services to the Moomba Gas Plant in South Australia, being one of Australia’s largest natural gas and oil processing facilities. Additionally, Cobus also served as a Staff level Process Engineer, providing concept development and engineering services for both Greenfield and Brownfield projects, from Pre-Feasibility through to Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design support.
Prior to Santos, Cobus was employed with Linc Energy in Technical Superintendent and Operations Superintendent roles and was heavily involved in the Gas to Liquids (GTL) research and development, technology selection, design, commissioning and successful operations of their world first Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) and GTL demonstration facility.
He was also a Senior Process Engineer, with expertise in GTL catalysis research and development, process development, scale-up and commercial implementation with Sasol Ltd,[, ] a global leader in GTL technology.
Cobus will bring a wealth of commercial experience and project management expertise to Hazer as the company progresses further towards commercialisation of its low cost, low emission hydrogen and graphite production process.
As General Manager, Cobus will lead all commercial development and scale up work, including the progression of the Pre-Pilot Plant and the potential establishment of the JV with Mineral Resources to develop a commercial scale synthetic graphite plant.
With substantial interest in Hazer’s technology, Cobus will also help in the effort to prioritise and convert these opportunities with a key focus on delivering significant shareholder value, and work towards growing the technical capability of the Company’s technical team based in Sydney.

Dr Andrew Cornejo will remain in the role of Chief Technology Officer, and will continue to provide technical support to the Company’s process development work, while also leading Hazer’s ongoing development of further strategic technical opportunities.
