APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Board of Directors of Hawthorn Resources Limited (ASX: HAW) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian F Thornton as a Non-Executive Director of the Company.

Hawthorn’s Chairman, Mr Li Yi Jie, welcomed the appointment saying it adds depth and expertise to the Company given Mr Thornton’s long involvement in the mining industry and more specifically with Hawthorn and its key asset, the Anglo-Saxon gold project at Pinjin in Western Australia.

Mr Thornton is the Director and 100% shareholder of Gel Resources Pty Ltd, Hawthorn’s 30% joint venture partner in the Anglo-Saxon gold project. Following completion of the profitable open pit operation, the Joint Venture is currently evaluating the development of the underground gold resource at Anglo Saxon which has a current indicated and inferred JORC Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) of 157,000 ounces at a grade of 6.1g/t cut (see HAW’S ASX ‘Mineral Resource Update’ 30 October 2020).

In addition, and in his own right, Mr Thornton is the holder of 5,761,879 ordinary fully paid shares in Hawthorn Resources Limited.

Mr Thornton has had a long association with the minerals and exploration industry in Australia and internationally, both at executive and advisory levels. He is the former Executive Chairman of Xanadu Mines Limited (ASX: XAM), which he founded in 2004 and in which he remains a significant investor.

Mr Thornton is a graduate in Economics from the Australian National University and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA) and, currently, is the Honorary Consul of Mongolia in New South Wales.
