The Chairman of Carpentaria Exploration Limited (ASX: CAP), Nick Sheard, today announced the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director, Mr. Mike Chester, to the Carpentaria Board, effective 15 January 2008

Mike possesses over 23 years of experience in stock-broking and investment banking. He was a senior mining analyst for many years at major stockbrokers/investment banks prior to moving into corporate advisory/investment banking roles. Mr. Chester has extensive experience in IPOs, corporate advisory and equity placements across the industrial and mining sectors for both listed and unlisted entities.

Mr. Sheard stated that Mr. Chester’s appointment would be a valuable addition to the Carpentaria Board, bringing with him extensive experience researching and advising companies in the resources sector. With this appointment, Carpentaria has further augmented the skills and experience of the current Board.

Carpentaria is a Queensland based exploration company focused on discovering and mining base metal and gold deposits in Queensland and New South Wales. Both these States host world class ore deposits including Mt Isa, Mt Morgan, Central Victoria, Broken Hill and Cadia-Ridgeway. Drilling at Glen Isla is imminent to test coincident induced polarisation and rock chip gold anomaly associated with previously identified highly anomalous RAB gold anomaly, which has not been adequately drill tested . At Combaning a heliborne electromagnetic (VTEM) survey is due to commence in late January to identify gold, nickel, and base metal targets.
