CEO Bernhard Griese on the interim report:
“The first half was characterised by challenging market conditions with
intensified competition, increasing raw material prices, political turmoil in
the Middle East and bleak summer weather, which individually affected both
revenue and earnings negatively relative to last year. Naturally, we regularly
assess the extent to which we can tailor our cost structure to further the
development of the group, but, in reality, we currently run an extremely
efficient business. At the same time, we do not want to lose sight of the
long-term strategic potential inherent in the development projects and
geographical expansion of our activities which we are currently working on.
Therefore, we will continue to invest in these activities, and even though the
results still feature only modestly in the group’s financial statements,
developments are continuously confirming our belief that the market
opportunities exist and that we will succeed in seizing and developing them.”
