PAC CENT CYBER<1186> - Announcement The Stock Exchange has received a message from PACIFIC CENTURY CYBERWORKS LIMITED ("PCCW") which is reproduced as follows: "PACIFIC CENTURY CYBERWORKS LIMITED Announcement At the EGM held today all necessary approvals from PCCW shareholders in respect of its merger with HKT were obtained. On 27 May 2000, Pacific Century CyberWorks Limited ("PCCW") announced that a circular outlining the proposed acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Cable & Wireless (HKT) Limited ("HKT") (the "Merger") and convening an extraordinary general meeting (the "EGM") on 22 June 2000 had been posted to PCCW shareholders. PCCW is pleased to annonce that at the EGM held today all necessary approvals from PCCW shareholders in respect of the Merger were obtained. The Merger is being implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement between HKT and its shareholders (the "Scheme"). HKT will convene a Court meeting and an extraordinary general meeting of its shareholders on 3 July 2000 to consider the Scheme. Further announcements regarding the Merger will be made as appropriate.
