'Diversity' Now Officially Part of Strategy
Grammer AG Signs Diversity Charter
Amberg July 4, 2012 – The globally active company Grammer AG has declared diversity as one of the central elements of its corporate strategy. It signed the Diversity Charter, an initiative to promote diversity in enterprises, in June 2012.
Diversity Manager Responsible for Anchoring 'Diversity' in the Corporate Culture
This step has already been implemented in the organization: Jutta Winkelsträter has been the Grammer Group's official 'diversity manager' since mid-2011. 'Nothing is more important for success than the ability to innovate,' she says. 'Creative solutions arise when different ideas, viewpoints, and opinions come together.' She stresses that heterogeneous teams are therefore essential for the business success of any company in this day and age. 'Grammer will inform the public each year about its activities and progress in fostering diversity,' commented Manfred Pretscher, a member of the company's executive board and its labor director. 'We are actively involving our employees in putting the Charter into practice.'
A Commitment to Diversity – Both Internally and Externally
In signing the Diversity Charter, companies pledge to create a working environment that is free of prejudices. All of their employees should be valued – regardless of their sex, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion or ideology, any disabilities, age, sexual orientation, and identity. The Charter is now being supported by more than 1,100 German companies, associations, clubs, and initiatives as well as by the German federal government; its patroness is Chancellor Angela Merkel. The most prominent signatories include companies such as Daimler and Deutsche Bank, but also large organizations like the German Football Association (DFB).
