Grammer: state-of-the-art headrest production at the Schmölln plant reaches the 10-million mark

Two million headrests a year produced for global automotive OEMs

Highly efficient, fully automated module production for high-end components

Amberg, July 19, 2017 – Headrest production at Grammer AG – a global supplier of interior fittings for passenger vehicles and seating systems for commercial vehicles – has reached an important milestone at the company’s Schmölln plant in Thuringia, Germany: the ten millionth x-axis-adjustable headrest module has left the production line. The plant in Schmölln has been synonymous with successful and efficient fully automated production of headrest modules for almost seven years. As a premium producer, Grammer’s Schmölln plant supplies leading international automotive OEMs, thus helping to strengthen the German manufacturing sector.

Thanks to ongoing development, the production plant meets the latest technological requirements and is ideally positioned to cater to fast-moving market demands. The automated system is able to produce headrest modules in more than 25 different versions. With the roughly 350 employees at the Schmölln plant, Grammer currently produces two million headrest modules a year alongside other products. “We are very proud of the success story of almost seven years which we have achieved with our headrest production activities in Schmölln. Our efficient production, high quality standards and top service are the reasons for this success,” explains Manfred Pretscher, COO of Grammer AG.

Headrest production accounts for a significant part of the Automotive Division, which has been the main growth driver for the GRAMMER Group for many years. In 2016 alone, the Automotive Division reported a 26 percent increase in revenue to EUR 1.27 billion.
