Grammer AG: Earnings improve in first quarter

Grammer AG, Amberg, has presented its preliminary figures for the first quarter of 2006. According to the figures, sales of the Grammer Group from January to March of the current fiscal year increased by EUR 25.4 million, or 12.9%, to a total of EUR 222.6 (Q1 2005: EUR 197.2). All three company segments contributed to the sales growth. Sales in the Automotive segment rose by 15.5% to EUR 144.2 million (Q1 2005: EUR 124.9 million). This segment benefited from the overall trend in the car market as well as the establishment of series production for the new models. In the Driver Seats segment, Grammer increased sales to EUR 69.5 million (Q1 2005: EUR 67.4 million). Sales in the Passenger Seats segment climbed by 32.5% to EUR 10.2 million (Q1 2005: EUR 7.7 million) due to additional orders and projects that had been postponed in 2005. The measures introduced in the fall of 2005 to improve earnings power already showed an impact in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. In addition, earnings were no longer affected by high start-up costs as in the first quarter of 2005. Group earnings before taxes and interest (EBIT) are expected to have grown to EUR 12.5 million (Q1 2005: EUR 9.3 million). This represents an improvement of more than one-third in comparison with the first quarter of 2005. Grammer AG will present the final figures for the first quarter of 2006 on May 12, 2006.
