GrainCorp appoints Group General Counsel

GrainCorp today announces that Ms Amanda Luhrmann has been appointed to the role of Group General Counsel and will commence on 1[st] February 2017. Ms Luhrmann will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting to Managing Director & CEO, Mark Palmquist, and her responsibilities will include managing the Group’s governance, risk, insurance and legal functions. Amanda will also be appointed as Joint Company Secretary.

In welcoming Amanda to GrainCorp, Managing Director & CEO Mark Palmquist said: “Amanda brings great experience to our business, having worked for more than 20 years across the FMCG, industrial products, media and transport sectors in private practice and in-house roles. Amanda is very commercial in her approach to in-house counsel and a strong leader who will be a valuable contributor to the leadership team and the GrainCorp Group.”

Ms Luhrmann has held corporate counsel, compliance and executive management positions across a diverse range of industries and businesses with international operations. Most recently she gained exposure to the food sector as General Counsel at Vittoria Food & Beverage where she was responsible for group legal services across Australia, NZ and the US, and previously Amanda served as General Counsel and Compliance Manager of Crane Group, part of Fletcher Building Limited. Prior to her corporate roles, Amanda worked at Clayton Utz specialising in corporate advisory and mergers & acquisitions for publicly listed, private equity and government clients in manufacturing, energy, media, telecommunications, rail and aviation.

Ms Luhrmann holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance. Amanda is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
