5 YEAR LEASE EXTENSION AT CITI CENTRE, SYDNEY

Charter Hall Office REIT (ASX:CQO) (the ‘REIT’) today announced another successful lease extension within its Australian portfolio, with Charter Hall and its joint venture partner, GPT securing a new lease to June 2016 with Gilbert & Tobin at the Citi Centre, 2 Park Street, Sydney.
Gilbert & Tobin has recommitted to approximately 9,280 square metres across 12.5% of the building until June 2016, increasing the building’s weighted average lease expiry (WALE) from 2.2 years to 3.2 years and contributing towards the Australian portfolio’s WALE increase to 4.5 years.
Charter Hall’s asset management team and GPT are focused on the active management of this Premium-grade property and the Gilbert & Tobin deal follows the recent 10 year lease agreement with Royal Bank of Canada across 2,970 square metres at the Centre.
Charter Hall Office REIT’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Adrian Taylor, said: “The extension of the lease with highly regarded law firm Gilbert & Tobin is testament to our long standing relationship with them and the continued focus on the active management of our portfolios for the benefit of our tenants and investors.
“During the year to 30 June we reached terms on approximately 25% or over 100,000 square metres of lease commitments across our Australian portfolio, and with the improving property markets we expect to continue to capitalise on strong leasing demand for well managed high quality office buildings in Australian cities,” Mr Taylor added.
