GPT appoints Mr Robert Whitfield as a Non-Executive Director

The GPT Group (GPT) has appointed Mr Robert Whitfield as a Non- Executive Director with effect from 14 May 2020.

Mr Whitfield has significant banking and finance experience in senior management roles across the public and private sectors. He is currently a Non-Executive Director of Commonwealth Bank and a Director of NSW Treasury Corporation, having previously been its Chairman.

Mr Whitfield was previously Secretary of NSW Treasury and of NSW Industrial Relations. Prior to NSW Treasury, Rob had a 30-year career with Westpac Banking Corporation and held various senior management positions there, including Chief Executive Officer of the Institutional Bank, Chief Risk Officer, Group Treasurer and Chairman of the Asia Advisory Board.

GPT Chairman Vickki McFadden said: “We are very pleased to welcome Rob to the Board. Rob’s appointment continues our process of Board renewal and Rob’s extensive experience in banking, finance and the public sector will be a most valuable contribution to the Board enhancing the Board’s skills and experience.”

As set out in the Notice of Meeting for the Group’s AGM, following the appointment of Mr Whitfield, it is intended that Mr Gene Tilbrook will retire as a director of the GPT Group by the end of this calendar year.
