Item 8.01 OTHER EVENTS

On June 23, 2006, The Gorman-Rupp Company issued a news release announcing that its wholly-owned subsidiary Patterson Pump Company had shipped the first of an order for six (6) large flood control and levee protection pumps and related components. This news release is included as Exhibit 99 in this Current Report on Form 8-K.
