New 92m Sulphide Bearing Drilling Intersection Extends Hazelbrook Zone

- pXRF results of up to 3.6% Copper and 346 g/t Silver from latest drillhole

  • Golden Deeps has intersected a 92m thick zone of disseminated sulphides, including silver-bearing pyrite and patches of the copper sulphide chalcopyrite, in diamond drillhole HVD004 at the Company’s Havilah Project in the world-class Lachlan Fold Belt Copper-Gold Province of NSW[1,2] .

  • This latest sulphide intersection extends the Hazelbrook sulphide mineralisation[3] a further 200m northeast of the 80m sulphide intersection in HVD003 (see drillhole locations on magnetics, Figure 1).

  • ➢ The 92m sulphide-mineralised intersection in HVD004 , from 39m downhole, is predominantly disseminated sulphides (pyrite +/- chalcopyrite, sphalerite) and includes a 42m zone from 88.2m with patches of chalcopyrite which produced portable XRF (pXRF) readings ranging up to 3.6% Cu , with an average of detected readings of 1,010 ppm (>0.1%) Cu* (see Appendix 2, mineralisation descriptions, and Appendix 3, pXRF readings).

  • ➢ A pXRF measurement of a patch of pyritic sulphide mineralisation at 17m, produced a reading of 346 g/t silver (Ag) . Silver is difficult to detect at lower levels with pXRF and gold cannot be reliably detected. The presence of extensive disseminations and patches of pyrite indicates potential for silver and/or gold in final lab assays.

  • ➢ The sulphide mineralisation intersected in HVD004 is 200m northeast of drillhole HVD003, which intersected 80m of sulphide mineralisation (from 85m downhole) which included a 28m zone (from 85.8m) of more intense sulphide mineralisation, which produced high-grade pXRF readings of up to 18.5% Cu and 34.8% Zn , with an average of detectable readings of 0.5% Cu and 0.7% Zn[2] (see Cautionary Note regarding pXRF readings below).

  • Cautionary Note in relation to disclosure of visual estimates and pXRF readings described in this release and detailed in Appendix 2 and 3 respectively: The Company cautions that visual estimates of sulphide mineralisation abundance and pXRF readings should never be considered a proxy or substitute for laboratory analyses. Laboratory assays (ICP-MS/OES and Fire Assay for gold) are required to determine representative grades and intervals of the elements associated with the visible mineralisation reported from geological logging and pXRF readings. Core is being sampled for submission to ALS laboratories in Orange, NSW. Laboratory results are expected within 2 to 6 weeks.

  • ➢ Extensive soil sampling programs are in progress, including infill sampling to the northeast of HVD004 where wide-spaced soil sampling produced results of up to 3,460ppm (0.35%) Cu . This is the highest soil sampling value on the Hazelbrook Trend and extends the mineralised corridor to >1km strike-length.

  • ➢ Following receipt of laboratory analytical results for the drilling, and the results of the infill soil-sampling, further drilling of this strongly mineralised project area, with copper anomalism over a 3km x 1km area, will be planned.

Golden Deeps CEO Jon Dugdale commented: “The intersection of another thick zone of sulphide mineralisation in HVD004, including patches of copper sulphides, extends the Hazelbrook mineralised zone 200m to the northeast of the 80m sulphide intersection in HVD003. Previous soil sampling, currently being infilled and extended, indicates that the mineralised zone at Hazelbrook extends over at least 1km of strike.

Strong copper mineralisation has also been identified at the Milfor target over a 1km x 800m area and includes previous rockchip results of up to 1.1% Cu associated with copper-sulphides.

The widespread mineralisation at Havilah indicates we’re on top of a large porphyry-sulphide system with similar geological characteristics to major deposits in the Lachlan Fold Belt such as Cadia-Ridgeway.

Subject to laboratory assay results, including for gold and silver, and the further soil sampling, we look forward to launching a new drilling program to test this exciting discovery of widespread, copper-bearing, sulphide mineralisation.”

Golden Deeps Ltd (ASX:GED) is pleased to announce a further intersection of significant, copper-sulphide mineralisation at its 100% owned Havilah Project in the Lachlan Fold Belt Copper-Gold Province of central NSW[1] (see Figure 1 and regional location, Figures 3 and 4).

The fourth hole of the diamond drilling program, HVD004, tested the Hazelbrook copper-zinc soil and rockchip anomaly and is located 200m to the northeast of the previously reported HVD003[2] (see Figure 1).

HVD004 intersected a 92m zone of disseminated sulphides with patches of the copper sulphide, chalcopyrite, and the zinc sulphide, sphalerite, in the targeted Sofala Volcanics. The 92m mineralised intersection in HVD003, from 39m to 131m downhole, is predominantly disseminated sulphides (pyrite +/- chalcopyrite, sphalerite) and includes a 42m zone from 88.2m with patches of chalcopyrite which produced pXRF readings ranging up to 3.6% Cu , with an average of detected readings of 1,010 ppm (>0.1%) Cu. A pXRF measurement of a patch of pyritic sulphide mineralisation at 17m, produced a reading of 346 g/t silver (Ag) (see Appendix 1: drillhole details, Appendix 2: descriptions of mineralisation and Appendix 3: full tables of pXRF readings).

The previously reported HVD003 intersected an 80m sulphide mineralised zone from 85m which included a more intensely mineralised 28m zone (from 85m) with semi-massive patches and stringers (averaging 1- 2%) of chalcopyrite and sphalerite which produced pXRF readings of up to 18.5% Cu and 34.8% Zn and averaged 0.5% Cu and 0.7% Zn[2] (see Image 1, below, and representative cross section, Figure 2).

The mineralisation intersected by HVD003 and HVD004 is associated with a northeast-trending surface soil and rockchip copper-zinc anomaly defined by detailed soil and rockchip sampling results of over 1% Cu[3] , over at least 800m strike-length. Previous, wide-spaced, soil sampling results of up to 3,460ppm (0.35%) Cu, to the northeast of the detailed sampling zone indicates that the Hazelbrook anomaly extends for over 1km strike-length , open to the northeast and southwest (see Figure 1). Further (25m x 25m) soil sampling is in progress to define the extensions to the Hazelbrook anomaly to provide definition of targets for further drilling.

In addition, 25m x 25m infill soil sampling is also being carried out over the extensive Milfor copper anomaly, which occurs over a 1km x 1km area (>170ppm Cu) and includes soil values of up to 1,150 (0.12%) Cu . Previous rockchip sampling of copper (chalcopyrite and malachite) mineralisation near historical workings produced assays of up to 1.1% copper[3] (see Image 2, below).

The infill soil sampling at Hazelbrook and Milfor is in progress, and will be analysed using pXRF to produce immediate results that will allow definition of further drilling targets in both of these highly mineralised areas.

The first hole in the program, HVD001, tested a silicified outcrop at Hazelbrook North (see Figure 1) which previously produced a broad, north-south trending copper-zinc-gold soil anomaly and highly anomalous rockchip values of up to 1%Cu, 1.1% Zn and 0.2g/t Au[3] . This hole intersected 40m of silicified breccia/veining and disseminated sulphide mineralisation from surface, including patches and disseminations of pyrite with chalcopyrite and sphalerite in veinlets[2] (see descriptions, Appendix 2). The mineralisation occurs within Silurian volcanics lying above the Ordovician mafic volcanics/volcanoclastics. Hand-held pXRF readings[*] on drillcore ranged from less than detection up to 0.59% Cu and 0.53% Zn within the mineralised zone[2] .

Diamond drillhole HVD002 tested a strong Induced Polarisation (IP) chargeability anomaly east of the Hazelbrook North target[1,2] (see Figure 1) and intersected over 130m (from 7m) of altered mafic volcanics with scattered veinlets and disseminations of pyrite and trace chalcopyrite . The intersection of extensive disseminated sulphides explains the IP anomaly detected. pXRF readings are not yet available for this hole.

Laboratory analytical results (ALS Laboratories, Orange, NSW), including gold and silver assays (gold is not detectable with pXRF and silver is only reliable at higher levels) will be reported when available and compiled.

Following receipt of laboratory assays from the initial drilling, and the completion of the infill soil sampling programs, further drilling will be planned. Further drilling sites will require approval from the NSW Government of an Assessable Prospecting Operation (APO).

Soil and rockchip sampling has also been carried over an area of altered silicified and sulphide bearing Sofala Volcanics which are exposed to the south of the Havilah Project in Acros JV tenement, EL9114. Magnetics imagery indicates that the altered and magnetised volcanics continue south of the Milfor prospect under mostly conglomerate cover for a further 2km within this tenement (see Figure 3).

The exposure of altered and mineralised volcanics in EL9114, and the large magnetic anomaly associated with the mineralised volcanics, indicates potential to double the footprint of the Havilah Project mineralised system to over 5km from north to south (see Figure 3).

About the Havilah Cu-Zn (Au) Project, Lachlan Fold Belt, NSW

The Havilah Project is a 100% owned granted Exploration Licence (EL8936) located within the eastern Lachlan Fold Belt (LFB) near Mudgee in central NSW (see Figure 4).

The Company is targeting porphyry/volcanic hosted copper-zinc and gold mineralisation in a belt of Ordovician age (Sofala) volcanic rocks in the Rockley-Gulgong Volcanic Belt, which is part of the Macquarie Arc in the LFB - a major geological province known for world-class copper-gold deposits such as Cadia-Ridgeway[5,6] and the recent Boda-Kaiser discovery of Alkane Resources Ltd[8] (see Figure 4). Major deposits are associated with intrusive “porphyries” in the Ordovician volcanics, and occur within northwest trending structural corridors, one of which links Havilah with Alkane’s Boda-Kaiser discovery[7] , 80km to the northwest (Figure 4).

Havilah includes an area of magnetic Ordovician Sofala Volcanics close to the northeastern margin of the Aaron’s Pass Granite (see Figures 3 and 4). Mineralisation occurs on the tenement within this magnetic aureole at the historical Milfor and Cheshire copper workings, which are associated with altered Sofala (mafic/intermediate) Volcanics that contain pyrite and chalcopyrite (copper sulphide).

The Company previously announced extensive copper with zinc and gold soil and rockchip anomalies, including several rockchip values of more than 1% copper (see Figure 1)[3] . This mineralisation is associated with the strongly altered and mineralised (Ordovician) Sofala Volcanics and northeast and north-south trending structures within the magnetic aureole of the Aaron’s Pass Granite (see Figure 3).

The sulphide mineralisation intersected in diamond drillholes HVD003 and HVD004 occurs within a northeasttrending zone of surface copper mineralisation in the Ordovician Sofala Volcanics at the Hazelbrook prospect. This is associated with a structural trend which links with the Aaron’s Pass Granite outcropping to the west – which is associated with porphyry Mo-W-Cu mineralisation west of Havilah at Mt Pleasant Prospect[4] , and the Cheshire copper-zinc workings over 2km to the northeast (Figures 1 and 3).

The extensive surface copper mineralisation and the strong sub-surface IP anomalies detected, together represent a major porphyry/volcanic hosted copper-zinc-gold target zone at the Havilah Project.

Further soil and rockchip sampling is in progress to expand the footprint of the mineralisation and define targets for further drilling, which will planned upon receipt, compilation and interpretation of drilling laboratory analytical results and completion of the further sampling programs.

About Golden Deeps Ltd

Golden Deeps (ASX:GED) is an explorer-developer with a dual focus on the world-class terranes of the Lachlan Fold Belt copper-gold province of NSW, Australia, and the Otavi Mountain Land (Otavi) copper-lead-zinc and vanadium district of Namibia.

Previous drilling at Khusib Springs copper-silver deposit produced thick silver-copper intersections that are open at depth.

Golden Deeps has a focused discovery and regional development and processing model based on discovery, building resources and advancing developments with the ultimate objective of becoming a producer of critical metals, such as copper and vanadium – to supply rapidly growing renewable energy markets globally.

Soil sampling in 2021 and 2022 was carried
out by Rangott Mineral Exploration Pty Ltd
initially on a 200m x 100m grid with infill on
a 50m x 20m grid. Samples were collected
from surface in areas of skeletal soils or,
where deeper, from approximately 20cm
below surface and sieved to -1mm before
submission to the ALS laboratory, Orange
NSW for gold (Au) by fire assay and other
elements analysis by ICP-MS.

Rock chip samples in 2022 were collected
by Rangott Mineral Exploration Pty Ltd from
selected outcrop and, where possible,
collected across the trike of structures
located. Samples were submitted to the
ALS laboratory in Orange NSW from which
approximately 3 kg was pulverised to
produce a 50 g charge for gold fire assay
and analysis of other elements by acid
digest and ICP-MS/OES analysis.

Current diamond drilling sampled as half-
core on approximately 1m intervals (varied
subject to geological contacts) and
analysed using the same procedure as
above.

Initial pXRF readings are spot readings on
drill-core taken at intervals of 0.25m to 1m
of actual core length within each
mineralised zone. Readings are taken at
bottom of core, unless core orientation
cannot be determined. The p-XRF
measurements are taken in Mining Mode.
The values for copper (Cu), Lead (Pb) and
Zinc (Zn) are indicative only. Gold, (Au) and
Silver (Ag) values are not accurate or
reliable and give very limited indication of
final values expected in laboratory analyses.

A system check and calibration of the pXRF
device was performed each time on bootup.

Readings of the blank and low-Cu CRM
standard were carried out at the start,
occasionally during and at end of the pXRF
readings session.

Some repeat readings were carried out, as
indicated by readings with the same depth

Standards and blanks were tested at regular
intervals (ave. 1 standard, 1 blank per 20m).

The type of instrument used was a Niton
XL3t portable XRF device.
