2. (LOSS) EARNINGS PER SHARE

The calculation of (loss) earnings per share was based on the consolidated
loss attributable to shareholders for the year of approximately
$39,884,000 (2001 - profit attributable to shareholders $10,805,000) and
on the weighted average number of approximately 286,480,000 (2001 -
266,788,000) shares in issue during the year.

Diluted (loss) earnings per share was not presented as there were no share
options, warrants or any other convertible instruments outstanding during
the year which would result in dilution.
