Gubbio, 27 July 2016 – GO internet S.p.A. signed an agreement with Enel Open Fiber (EOF) by which it will be one of the first operators in Italy to provide Fibre to the Home (FTTH) ultrabroadband connection of up to 1 GBPS in the cities included in the EOF strategic plan, in line with the Digital Agenda for Europe and the Italian ultrabroadband strategy.
The plan has already been launched in Perugia where GO internet activated the first customers through the pilot project. Thanks to its partnership with Enel Open Fiber, GO internet, which today operates using Lte and Wimax technology in Marche and Emilia Romagna, will thus be able to extend its business to new regions and, progressively, according to Enel Open Fiber development plans, further increase its presence in Italy.
"The agreement with Enel Open Fiber is an excellent growth opportunity for our company: the expansion plan envisaged will allow us to be present with our connection in new regions of Italy, thereby allowing us to become a national player" states Giuseppe Colaiacovo, President of GO internet.
"Thanks to Fibre to the Home and the up to 100 MBPS Lte service, which is already operating and offered at particularly competitive prices, GO internet may operate in different market segments, offering target-based dedicated services and at the same time reinforcing the presence in essential segments like the business and small business" adds Alessandro Frizzoni, Chief Executive Officer of GO internet.
GO internet and Enel Open Fibre will take fibre connection directly to homes. Through its infrastructure, Enel will carry dark fibre from the shelter that GO will then use to provide the connection through a wi-fi modem. The up to 1 GBPS connection allows for the use of numerous applications requiring ultrabroadband, such as smart TV 4K, real Time platforms, on-line gaming platforms and home automation.
