Acquisition of the Midest trade show The emergence of a Global French Trade Show devoted to Industry
The major French event for manufacturing tools and technologies and industrial know-how that companies, public authorities and trade associations alike have been calling for years, will finally become a reality in March 2018 under the GL events banner.
The Group is already the organiser of the well-established trade show, Industrie, whose April 2017 edition registered significant growth (exhibitors:+10%; visitors: +21%), and more recently, Smart Industries, devoted to smart and connected manufacturing. Starting with the 2018 edition in Paris, the Group will now stage these events together with Midest, the leading French industrial subcontracting event, and Tolexpo, specialised in sheet metal and welding technologies.
It was with this objective that GL events acquired Midest, the well-established industrial subcontracting trade show that in December 2016 had nearly 1,400 exhibitors and 35,000 professional visitors at Paris-Nord Villepinte, and the Tolexpo trade show. Midest's latest edition was organised within the framework of the French Convergence for the Industry of the Future initiative that already includes Smart Industries and the Alliance for the Industry of the Future (AIF) as partners.
The transaction finalised today will allow GL events to implement all synergies required for this large-scale gathering for the benefit of French and international manufacturers, starting with the 2018 edition to be held from the 27th to 30th of March at Paris-Nord Villepinte. At an exhibition space exceeding 100,000 m², 2,700 exhibitors and more than 50,000 professional visitors are expected.
A conference bringing together public authorities, professional bodies and companies of the sector will be organised this fall in order to support the launch of this major Industry Trade Show.
