ARQUES Industries AG becomes Gigaset AG
Munich, 22 February 2011 – As decided by the shareholders with a majority of over 90% at the extraordinary general meeting in December 2010, ARQUES Industries AG will in future be called Gigaset AG. The new company name expresses the required drastic changes to the strategy and constitutes a departure from the previous business model which was closely associated with the name ARQUES Industries AG, and the acquisition and restructuring of companies in transitional situations.
The core of the new business model, which is to focus on the subsidiary Gigaset Communications GmbH, is the telecommunications sector including accessories. Gigaset is a profitable medium-sized global player, European market and technology leader as well as a price leader in DECT telephony. DECT stands for Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications and is the most successful telecommunications standard in the world. As a premium provider, Gigaset has a brand awareness level of 90% in Germany. European market leader, the company which is represented in over 70 countries with 1,700 employees, ranks second world-wide in its industry. In the financial year 2010, the company generated revenues of approximately EUR 504 million in its continued business activities and an EBITDA of just under EUR 51 million and has thus performed above the published annual forecast.
'As of March 4, 2011 we will also spatially unite with Gigaset Communications GmbH in their current administrative location in Munich. The new shortened communication channels will facilitate rapid and closely coordinated decisions, promote co-operation, and expresses the future mutual strategy and organisational culture of both companies,' said Maik Brockmann of the Gigaset AG Executive Board.
