ARQUES Iberia takes over Spanish steel processor, Capresa
Already sixth acquisition in 2007, second acquisition by ARQUES Iberia
ARQUES revenues reach the 1.5 billion Euro mark for the first time
Starnberg, April 26, 2007 - ARQUES Iberia, a subsidiary of the
Starnberg-based equity investment company, ARQUES Industries AG (ISIN
DE0005156004), took over the Spanish steel processor, Calibrados de
Precisión, S.A. (Capresa). The transaction is subject to the approval of
the relevant cartel authorities and other approvals.
Calibrados de Precisión, S.A. (Capresa) is a company which processes steel
particularly for the automobile industry. The product range includes spring
steel, carbon steel, free cutting steel, as well as various types of
alloyed special steel which is cut to individual customer requirements and
formed mechanically. The company with its head office in La Llagosta near
Barcelona was taken over in accordance with the ARQUES business philosophy
and generated revenues of more than EUR 50 million in 2006 with
approximately 100 employees. In addition to the production facility in
Spain, ARQUES also takes over a plant in Mexico (CapreMex) from which
Capresa produces and distributes its products and services for the entire
American market. The company, founded in 1960, has both an established,
international clientele and a broad supplier base. Apart from the
automobile industry, Capresa’s customers also originate from the textile
machines and hydraulics segments and the building industry.
'With the takeover of Capresa, ARQUES executes the second transaction in
Spain. ARQUES Iberia has succeeded within a very short time to establish
itself on the Spanish market', said Alexander Wit, executive board member
of ARQUES Iberia S.A. situated in Madrid, which was founded in autumn 2006
within the context of the internationalisation of the ARQUES business
model. At the beginning of February 2007 ARQUES Iberia already took over
Degussa’s antioxidant business activities with production facilities in
Spain and England.
Further evidence of the increasing dynamics of ARQUES’s foreign activities
was the announced takeover of the Austrian textile trade chain, Schöps, by
ARQUES Austria three weeks ago. The ARQUES executive board expects further
acquisitions by its foreign subsidiaries in 2007.
'This transaction verifies that ARQUES has now earned itself a good
reputation as a turnaround specialist on a Pan-European level and that more
and more international companies are looking at ARQUES as a partner for
spin-offs. We will continue to advance the internationalisation of our
business model based on past successes', said Dr. Dr. Peter Löw, founder
and executive board chairman of ARQUES Industries AG.
The acquisition of Capresa is already the sixth ARQUES group transaction in
2007. ARQUES has acquired companies with revenues totalling around EUR 300
million. For the current financial year ARQUES expects to purchase further
companies with revenues of more than EUR 1 billion. The ARQUES annualised
annual group revenues increase to approximately EUR 1.5 billion with this
acquisition. At the press conference on March 30, ARQUES affirmed its
target for 2007 of reaching consolidated annual revenues of EUR 1.5 billion
as well as an EBITDA of EUR 180 million.
For this transaction ARQUES Iberia was advised by Tribeca Abogados und
Landwell PWC.
