GroupeEurotunnel SAappoints Philippe de Lagune as Safety and Ethics Director

Philippe de Lagune, who previously held the post of French Safety Coordinator for the London 2012 Olympic Games, join sGroupe Eurotunnel SAon09 September 2013as Safety and Ethics Director. He will have responsibility for the safety of the vitally important site of the Channel Tunnel.

He has most recently been working at the request of the French Prime Minister on the reception of Afghan inter preters who have worked for the French armed forces. Philipe de Lagune holds a Masters degree in Law and was called to the Bar in Paris where he worked as a Barrister from 1972 -1976. He was subsequently appointed Chef de Cabinet to the Director of the Judi cial Police based at the Quai des Orfè vres,where he was principally responsible for the organisation and safety of international conferences, exhibitions, official visits and the s afety of transport for the French President.

After working for the Ministry ofDefence between 1990 and 1992, then for the Foreign Ministry from 1992-1994, Philippe de Lagune was appointed to the role of European and International Affairs Advisor to the Director General of the National Police. In 1995, he was appointed as Technic al Advisor to the Interior Minister, a position he occupied until 1997. He then returned to his role as European and International Affairs Advisor to the Director General of the National Police, where he became responsible for the coordination of the Natio nal Police during the French Presidency of the European Union in 2000. Having been Technical Advisor to Nicolas Sarkozy, whilst he was Minister for the Interior, Philippe de Lagune was promoted to the role of Préfet de Police in Corsica, a role he occupied from 2003 -2004 before becoming Assistant Director General in the Office Français de protection des R éfugiés et Apatrides (OFPRA). From 2006 Philippe de Lagune was Préfetin the Terr itoire de Belfort, where he was involved with social issues, sensitive urb an areas and local politics , and the organisation of major events. In 2008, he was appointed Secétaire Général du Comité Interministériel de Prévention de la Délinquence , a role which he held until taking up the position of Préfet in the Gersin 2010.
