Bochum, January 27, 2009 – GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft is participating in
the initiative 'Technology is the Future', thereby promoting directly and
at an early stage enthusiasm for technical professions among 14- to
16-year-old high school children and in their environment. The initiative
is a cooperation between the socially committed and technology-driven
companies Bilfinger Berger AG, Deutsche Bahn AG, Voith AG, Herrenknecht AG,
Alfred Kärcher GmbH & Co. KG, and GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft. The aim of
the initiative is to familiarize young people who have yet to choose the
subjects they will pursue until their school-leaving examinations with the
occupation of an engineer, presenting it as a fascinating activity that is
fun, multifaceted, calls for creativity and team spirit, and which also
offers excellent future opportunities. To this end, the initiative will
start with advertising campaigns in school magazines as well as on the
central internet platform www.ingenieure-koennen-das.de. As a further
stage, various marketing and PR activities reflecting a continuous and
sustainable initiative are planned.

order to continue this culture successfully in the future. With this
initiative our aim is to actively contribute to more enthusiasm in this
