ASX Announcement 10 May 2013
GBM Resources Strategy Review
Australian resources company GBM Resources Limited ( ASX: GBZ ) (“GBM” or “the Company”) today advises completion of a strategic review of its operations to better position the company for growth through project development and to preserve and grow shareholder value in a challenging market.
Whilst this is a continuous and ongoing process, the Company, with backing of its major Singaporean shareholders has commenced a review for near term gold production acquisition opportunities in the region with the objective of becoming a gold producer.
In parallel with this the Company will focus its priorities on:
-
I. Continued target testing on the Mount Morgan Gold-Copper Project with the aim of drill testing the Sandy Creek and Smelter Return prospects in the second half of the year.
-
II. Drilling of priority prospects including Bronzewing Bore (Bungalien Project) and the Mount Margaret West Project within the farm-in Joint Venture area. GBM has secured an approved $2.5million budget on the farm-in projects with Japanese trading house partners, Pan Pacific Copper Co., Ltd. and Mitsui &Co. Drilling to commence this month.
-
III. Securing funding to progress the Pre-Feasibility Studies for the Milo IOCG –REE Project. The Company is investigating opportunities to obtain funding for the study by bringing in a partner to the project.
-
IV. Major expenditure reduction initiatives implemented will achieve further annualised savings of $600,000. This includes salary reductions for executive directors, senior staff and reductions in other external service costs, so as to prioritise exploration expenditure.
The Board and management believes it is important to ensure that it is taking all possible steps to preserve shareholder value and believe that the outcomes of this strategic review, cost reductions and strategic acquisitions will achieve a step change in value creation for the company and its shareholders.
