Drilling to Commence on Gidgee Tenements

10 September 2012

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Drilling at Gidgee expected to commence on September 10, 2012

  • Up to 14 holes for 1,400m of RC drilling is planned on tenements within the Gidgee Project

  • The Project is considered highly prospective for VMS mineralisation, as well as for further gold discoveries

  • Drilling is expected to be completed within three weeks, with initial assays expected after a further two weeks

Summary

Gateway Mining Limited (“Gateway” or “The Company”) is pleased to announce that drilling is due to commence on a number of highly prospective base metal and gold targets within its Gidgee Project in Western Australia. The drilling is planned to test a number of prospects as listed below and as shown in Figures 1 and 2.

  • The Cup E57/417 (Gateway 100%) – one 150m RC drillhole to test interpreted eastern continuation of copper mineralisation intersected in previous drilling. The mineralisation, which includes intersections of up to 76m @ 0.7% copper, has been intersected over a strike length of 400m, and remains open to the north, south and east.

  • Gossans Galore (Gateway 100%) - up to 495m of RC drilling in four holes planned to test a number of VMS targets defined by coincident EM geophysical anomalies and aircore base metal and pathfinder anomalism in an area of only limited previous work (and no RC drilling). The VMS potential has also been supported by VMS-style alteration being identified by a lithogeochemical study of aircore drill chips.

  • Birthday Gossan P57/1155 (Gateway 100%) – one RC hole for 65m to test coincident ironstone/gossan, EM anomaly and anomalous base metal and pathfinder element geochemistry

  • Julia’s North M57/429 - (Gateway 75%/Estuary Resources 25%) – one hole for 200m testing a deep EM conductor. This is interpreted as being part of the copper, gold and silver mineralised “The Cup/Julia’s Fault” trend

  • Bungarra – E57/706 & E57/709 (Gateway 100%) – up to five holes for 340m testing strong zinc and pathfinder anomalism associated with gossans/ironstones and EM anomalism

  • Victory Creek M57/485 (Gateway 75%/Estuary Resources 25%) – one hole for 150m to test the interpretation that previously intersected gold mineralisation is controlled by a steeply plunging shoot.

It is expected that the drilling will be completed within three weeks of commencement, with initial assay results due approximately two weeks after the completion of drilling.

A number of the targets have been generated by work completed over the last two years, and have yet to have any RC drilling carried out on them. This work has included EM geophysical surveys, aircore drilling, geochemical sampling and mapping and a comprehensive exploration data review.

Amongst other styles, this work has confirmed the prospectivity for VMS base and precious metal mineralisation in the project area, with a number of VMS targets to be tested by the drilling.
