ASX Announcement: 25 May 2021
GATEWAY ANNOUNCES BOARD CHANGE
Gateway Mining Limited (ASX: GML) ( Gateway or Company ) advises that the Company’s Executive Chairman, Peter Langworthy, has resigned from the board, following his decision to step down from all public company positions to allow him to focus on his private business interests and spend more time with his family. As part of this, he has also resigned as a non-executive Director of Silver Mines Limited (ASX: SVL).
Mr Langworthy will remain as Chairman of his private consultancy business, Omni GeoX, and he will continue to be a supportive major shareholder in Gateway. He has also agreed to provide ongoing technical and strategic input to Gateway under a consultancy arrangement.
Non-executive Director Mr Trent Franklin will assume the role of Chairman.
Mr Langworthy said: “I have been a senior executive and a director of listed mining and exploration companies for the past 25 years. I have had the privilege of working with the team at Gateway over the past four years to reposition the company as a rapidly growing gold explorer with a great future at the Gidgee Gold Project in Western Australia.
“Under the stewardship of Mark Cossom as Managing Director, Gateway now has a clear roadmap to build a substantial new West Australian gold project with an exciting future. The results currently being generated from Gidgee give me great confidence that the company is on the right track to move to the next level and, as a major shareholder, I am very much looking forward to what Mark and the team can deliver.
“Given the growing demands on my time in my consulting business, I feel that now is the right time to step down from my public company roles. This is a decision I have not taken lightly, but I feel it is the right decision and the right time for me and my family. I am very grateful for the support of the Gateway Board and management team, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of the Gateway story for many years to come.”
Gateway Director Trent Franklin said: “I would like to acknowledge the enormous contribution that Peter has made, not just to Gateway but to a host of successful ASX listed companies during his career as a public company director and executive. His stellar career at Jubilee Mines is well known, but he also played a significant hand in the early development of Northern Star Resources and Capricorn Metals, amongst others. He has engrained this experience within the Gateway team and, in particular, Gateway’s Managing Director Mark Cossom.
“Peter has made the decision to reboot and simplify his work life by focusing on his private businesses and consulting interests, and in the process stepping away from the public arena. He will continue to be a major, supportive shareholder of Gateway and to be very closely involved with the Company via his ongoing consultancy engagement.
“On behalf of the board, management team and shareholders of Gateway, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the incredible contribution he has made to Gateway and the industry over a long period of time.’
This document has been authorised for release to the ASX by the Company’s Managing Director.
