Early Learning Services settles purchase of new centres
Australian listed child care operator Early Learning Services Ltd (ELY) has continued its national expansion with the purchase of six additional centres worth over $4.5 million late last Friday.
It adds to the ten other child care centres worth almost $10.5 million the company settled during the past week.
The new centres, previously held by a variety of independent owners, gives the company a stable of 23 centres across Queensland and New South Wales.
Early Learning Services is focused on developing and operating successful child care centres nationally through the acquisition and management of quality facilities.
It listed on the Australian Securities Exchange this week following a $34 million IPO.
Early Learning Services CEO John Hutchison said controlled growth by acquisition was one of the key business drivers of the company.
“Early Learning Services has an acquisition strategy focused on centres that already provide quality services, are operating at satisfactory occupancy levels, have a strong commitment to their local community and will benefit from our management,” he said.
“Our focus is on acquiring the leasehold businesses of the child care centre rather than the freehold property in which the business operates. We lease the centre properties on standard commercial terms with the average terms of current and proposed leases, inclusive of options, spanning approximately 20 years.
“We remain on track to operate 46 centres by late 2008.”
Early Learning Services currently owns 23 child care businesses in Queensland and New South Wales.
It also expects to settle the acquisitions of an additional 7 centres located throughout Australia by or about 14 December 2007. A further 10 centres are expected to be acquired by approximately 1 March 2008, with a further 9 centres currently scheduled to be acquired between 1 March 2008 and late 2009.
Early Learning Services was incorporated in February 2007 and draws on the 23 years’ combined experience of Australian child care industry professionals John Hutchison and John Wall.
