Drilling Commences at Zig Zag, Cu Au prospect Tasmania

  • G11 Resources advises that the drill rig is now onsite at its Sedgwick project located adjacent to the Mt Lyell Cu Au mine in Tasmania’s Mt Read Volcanic Belt

  • Throughout January drilling approvals were received from Mineral Resources Tasmania (MRT) and site preparations including access tracks and drill pads were completed

  • The initial plan is for approximately 2400m of diamond drilling to test a CSAMT anomaly that sits underneath the Zig Zag hill adjacent to the Great Lyell fault. This same geological setting hosts the various orebodies that comprise the Mt Lyell mine owned by Sibanye Stillwater approximately 800m along strike to the south of Zig Zag (Refer Figure 1 below)

  • The company has also engaged contractors to conduct Down Hole Electromagnetics (DHEM) upon completion of the first hole due to its ability to identify further off hole conductors when targeting Cu mineralisation

G11 Resources Ltd (‘the Company’ or ‘G11 Resources’) wishes to update the market that drilling will now commence at its 100% owned Sedgwick project in Tasmania’s world class Mt Read Volcanic belt which is home to numerous significant mines such as Mt Lyell (Cu, Au) and Rosebery (Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, Au) .

The Zig Zag drill target is considered highly prospective as CSAMT is a proven technique at Mt Lyell with broad correlation to the various ore bodies that comprise Mt Lyell (in red in Figure 1 below). This newly identified anomaly is modelled to sit adjacent to a major fold in the Great Lyell faultconsidered ideal for fluid flow.

Due to the Zig Zag anomaly's location beneath the Zig Zag hill these maiden exploration holes have been designed from two drill pads around the base of the hill. These holes are technically challenging from a drilling perspective and the Company has engaged suitably qualified drill contractors with capacity for directional (navi) drilling.

The Company will provide future updates on drilling progress at Zig Zag as the program progresses.

ABOUT TASMANIA AND THE MT READ VOLCANICS

Tasmania’s Mt Read Volcanic belt is home to a world class mineral endowment and has mines such as Mt Lyell (Cu, Au), Henty (Au), Rosebery (Zn, Pb, Cu, Ag, Au), Hellyer (Zn, Pb, Cu, Ag, Au), and Renison Bell (Sn). The Mt Read Volcanic belt still remains largely underexplored predominantly due to access. Mining is the largest contributor to Tasmania’s GDP and western Tasmania’s economy is highly reliant on mining and mineral exploration. The state government is highly supportive of the mining and exploration industry. Significantly Tasmania is powered 100% by renewable energy.
