Funkwerk subsidiary to implement first major project in India

Kölleda/Jamshedpur, 10 November 2009. Funkwerk AG (ISIN DE0005753149) is
due to implement its first major project in India. Its subsidiary alpha
meß-steuer-regeltechnik has been commissioned to handle the automation of a
pellet plant required for iron ore supply in one of the steel factories of
TATA Steel in Jamshedpur. The order volume is estimated to range in the
middle single-digit millions of euros. The contract involves all
engineering, the provision of software and hardware, and the production of
control cabinets including initial operation on site in Jamshedpur.

'We have prevailed against some very strong international competition here.
The project in Jamshedpur finally gives us the chance to prove our
efficiency in the Indian market,' Managing Director Frank-Ulrich Porz of
alpha meß-steuer-regeltechnik said.

Work on the project has already commenced, the process control systems is
scheduled to be commissioned by May 2010. The client and partner of the
Funkwerk subsidiary is Outotec GmbH from Oberursel near Frankfurt, one of
the global leaders in the design and construction of raw material and metal
processing plants. 'The project in Jamshedpur enables us to consolidate our
existing cooperation but at the same time provides a joint reference for
international business,' Porz describes a further aspect of the project.

Steel factory extended - largest iron ore pellet plant to be built in India
The end client, TATA Steel, is one of the largest steel producers in the
world and has set itself the target to increase the capacities of its main
factory in Jamshedpur to 10 million tonnes per year by 2011. In this
context, it is also planning to build the largest iron ore pellet plant in
India.

Delivering and commissioning the necessary management systems is one of the
key competences of alpha meß-steuer-regeltechnik. With almost 30 years of

needed to successfully execute international plant construction projects in
the area of measurement and control technology, its application spectrum
