PRESS RELEASE
Leidschendam, the Netherlands, 13 January 2009
Fugro acquires the LoadTest group of companies
Fugro has entered into an agreement to acquire the LoadTest group of companies, headquartered in Gainesville, Florida, USA and subsidiaries in Singapore, Korea and United Kingdom, for approximately EUR 13.5 million. LoadTest is the world's leading provider of static pile load testing services, using the proprietary bi-directional Osterberg Cell ® load testing method. Revenue for the last financial year was more than EUR 13 million and the company employs 40 staff.
Founded in 1991, LoadTest is well respected in the piling industry for providing innovative load testing solutions for many of the world's most heavily loaded foundations supporting land mark buildings and structures. LoadTest's largest capacity test for the foundations of the Incheon Bridge in South Korea involved transferring 32,000 tonnes of load into the soil and rocks supporting the pile. LoadTest's activity in the Middle East, where they have tested foundations for some of the Region's largest structures in recent years will benefit from Fugro's long established presence there.
Jack Hayes, founder and current president of LoadTest, will continue to manage and lead the development of the company as part of Fugro's Onshore Geotechnical business line. Operating companies within this business line will benefit from LoadTest's technologies, allowing them to better deliver value and significant savings to their clients.
