Fugro acquires BKS Surveys in Northern Ireland
Fugro has reached agreement with Amalgamated Metal Corporation to acquire 'BKS Surveys Limited', Northern- Ireland, a leading supplier of aerial mapping services and products. BKS is already agent for Fugro's FLI-MAP laser altimetry system in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The company employs 100 people and has an annual revenue of EUR 6.2 million (GBP 5 million).
BKS operates from Coleraine in Northern Ireland and will be renamed Fugro-BKS, forming part of Fugro Geospatial services, under its existing management.
The global market for Geospatial services is expanding rapidly. Geospatial information is a term widely used to describe data-sets, maps and imagery which are referenced to a global coordinate system and used to measure and visualise the physical features and man-made infrastructure on the earth's surface.
BKS will play an important role to expand Fugro's aerial mapping activities in Europe and brings strong technical capabilities in the fields of aerial photography, photogrammetry and surveying.
