New contract for Fugro in Brazil
Fugro Brasil with vessel owners Sealion Shipping have been awarded a three year contract by oil company Petrobras for inspection, repair and maintenance work in Santos and Campos Basins, north of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Start of the project is expected to be in September 2008. The contract value is approximately USD 137 million for the three years.
Fugro will operate the diving support vessel Toisa Sentinel with an eighteen man 350 metres saturation dive system and two ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), one for water depths up to 3,000 metres and one for waters depths up to 1,500 metres.
Fugro has operated with Sealion Shipping onboard the Toisa Sentinel for many years and has performed many dives in water depths up to 350 metres without incident in that time. The ROVs are used to monitor divers and to carry out inspection, repair and maintenance works in waters up to 3,000 metres. With other recent awards and ongoing contracts, Fugro operates now fourteen ROV's in Brazil. Four additional new ROVs are scheduled for delivery to Brazil later this year.
