The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Fresenius Medical Care AG reports Third Quarter Results 2003: Fresenius Medical Care today announced that in the third quarter of 2003, net income increased 25% to USD 87 million. Net revenue was USD 1,409 million, up 10%. Currency adjusted, net revenue rose 7% in the third quarter of 2003. The operating income (EBIT) increased 18% to USD 197 million. In the third quarter of 2003, earnings per ordinary share rose 25% to USD 0.90. The Company generated record third quarter operating and free cash flow levels. Cash from operations during the third quarter of 2003 was up 34% or USD 203 million compared to USD 151 million in 2002. The Free Cash Flow for the third quarter of 2003 increased by 81% to USD 152 million compared to USD 84 million in the previous year. For the first nine months of 2003, net income increased 14% to USD 237 million and net revenue was up 9% to USD 4,075 million. The EBIT increased by 8% in the first nine months to USD 550 million. As of September 30, 2003, the Company operated a total of 1,540 clinics worldwide. The Company performed approximately 13.2 million treatments (+9% year over year). At the end of the third quarter 2003 the Company provided treatment to around 117,600 patients worldwide (+7% year over year). For the year 2003, the Company reconfirms its outlook and expects mid single digit revenue growth (in constant currency) and net income growth in the high single digit to low double digits range.
