The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– freenet looks back on 1st quarter with own fixed-line business: takeover of mobilcom’s fixed-line business effective April 1,03 – evolution from an online service to an internet/telecommunications company; Q2/03:25.2m euro EBITDA,15.5m euro EBT; 14.1m euro group result; internet access business: powerful customer growth(+90,000 customers in Q2/03); entry into the DSL business: 20,000 orders in 3 months In Q2/03 the new dimensions and prospects of a new freenet are reflected in drastically increased revenues and earnings. Thus total Q2/03 revenues jumped to 120.3m euro, an increase of 798% vs. Q1/03(13.4m euro). EBITDA rose to 25.2m euro for Q2/03, an increase of 572% vs. Q1/03(3.8m euro) and 960% vs. Q2/02(2.4m euro). freenet’s group result totaled to 14.1m euro in Q2/03(+1036% over Q1/03). In Q2/02, freenet had booked a minimal loss. At the end of Q2/03, freenet has over 6 million customers. Of these, nearly 3.8 million use freenet’s internet access services; 2.2 million voice customers pre-selected freenet for their long-distance and local calls or chose freenet’s by-call by dialing the discount prefixes 01019+01024. Internet access continues to be the primary mainstay of sales, with revenues of 76.4m euro in Q2/03 alone. Following the takeover of the fixed-line business, the full charges for each online minute began going to freenet as revenues, beginning with Q2/03. The DSL business entry has gotten off to a very positive start: more than 20,000 users have already ordered freenetDSL. The new voice segment(35.7m euro) was the 2nd-largest source of revenues in Q2/03.
