Focus Minerals Appoints Preferred Contractor for Refurbishment and Recommissioning of Three Mile Hill Treatment Plant

Australian gold producer Focus Minerals Limited (ASX: FML – “Focus”) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Perth-based Como Engineers Pty Ltd as preferred contractor for the refurbishment and re-commissioning of its 100%-owned Three Mile Hill treatment plant in Western Australia. Como Engineers is part of the ASX-listed engineering group, VDM Group Limited.

Subject to finalisation of contract terms and conditions, the contract value comprises a A$16.965 million fixed price contract – representing a significant step forward as the Company ramps up production at its Coolgardie Gold Project, Western Australia.

Earlier this year, Focus announced a major A$28M capital raising to fund the refurbishment and re-commissioning of the Three Mile Hill Plant, which will provide the Company with the increased processing capacity to underpin its objective of increasing production to over 100,000 ounces per annum by 2011.

Como Engineers was established in 1986 and has extensive experience in the mineral processing industry, having worked with some of Australia’s leading engineering and mining companies including Dominion Mining Ltd, Newcrest Mining Ltd, Barrick Gold Ltd and Newmont Mining Corporation.

The re-commissioning of the Three Mile Hill plant will give the Company much greater flexibility to develop and mine its broader resource base in the region and underpin its longer term development pipeline of projects.

Commenting on the announcement, Focus’ Chief Executive Officer, Mr Campbell Baird, said: “Como Engineers is internationally recognised for its expertise in the provision of engineering services and products to the global mining and mineral processing industries. We look forward to working with them to deliver this important project for the Company’s future.”

The Three Mile Hill refurbishment is scheduled to commence by the end of April and it is expected that plant commissioning will occur in late December 2009.
