MEDIA / ASX RELEASE 29 August 2007

SECURES KEY MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT FOR NEPEAN NICKEL PROJECT

Manager Geology Nickel to assist in transition to production

WA nickel and gold company Focus Minerals Ltd (ASX: FML ) has further highlighted the Company’s rapid transition towards production at its wholly-owned Nepean Nickel Project, south of Coolgardie, with the appointment of experienced mining professional, Mr Stephen Denn, to the newly created position of Manager Geology Nickel.

Mr Denn is a geologist with more than 20 years’ experience in mineral exploration, mine development, production and management, encompassing a range of commodities, including nickel, gold, iron ore, base metals and petroleum.

Senior positions held by Mr Denn most recently include that of Chief Geologist at Cawse Nickel, where he has been responsible for geological studies from project inception to commissioning and production.

He was also Exploration Manager at Johnson’s Well Mining and Team Leader for Centaur Mining and Exploration when Centaur discovered the Federal Gold Deposit.

Mr Denn’s professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Applied Science and Graduate Diploma in Mineral Economics, both completed at Curtin University.

“Steve Denn’s depth of experience in exploration, development and production are a fitting complement to the technical skills and corporate experience of Focus Minerals’ existing Board and Management team,” Focus Minerals’ Managing Director, Mr Peter Williams said.

“We are extremely fortunate to have secured Steve in a very competitive market. He will enhance our operational capabilities at a crucial time, as we transition from explorer to producer of both nickel and gold.”

Focus Minerals is fast-tracking feasibility work targeting first production from the Nepean Nickel Project in 2008.

The Company has recently received full access approvals to the historic Nepean Nickel Mine, where the assessment on the condition of underground workings and the extent of remnant ore blocks has commenced.

Refurbishment of the mine shaft is underway, mine hoist commissioning has been completed and discussions are continuing regarding the potential to produce concentrate at a minerals processing plant located 10km north of the Nepean Nickel mine.

Earlier this year, Focus Minerals upgraded the Nepean resource by 45% to 591,300t @ 2.2% Ni, but is anticipating further upgrades following ongoing drilling at the northern margins of the mine.

The Company has also identified several strong anomalies within 1.5km of the mine to the south east, and is planning further exploration of a 30km strike length of Kambalda-style nickel sulphide mineralisation that includes four known sulphide prospects located ~20km to the north of the mine.

Between 1970 and 1987, the Nepean Nickel Mine produced 32,303 tonnes of nickel metal at a recovered grade of 2.99% nickel from 1.1Mt of ore.

Focus Minerals is also on schedule to mine its first gold from the 210sq km Coolgardie Gold Project during December 2007. The Coolgardie Gold Project is held in the 50:50 Redemption Joint Venture (RJV) formed with Canadian-based Committee Bay Resources Ltd in late 2005. The RJV also owns the 1.2mtpa Three Mile Hill mineral processing plant near Coolgardie and the 900ha The Mount nickel-gold project, 3km west of Widgiemooltha.
