REGIONAL DRILL PROGRAM IDENTIFIES THREE NEW TARGETS AT GOLDEN MILE SOUTH

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Three new zones of gold mineralisation in the greater Lakeside area

  • Targets are approximately along strike of the NE control on mineralisation

Overview

Orrex Resources Ltd ( Orrex or the Company ; ASX: ORX ) is pleased to announce the regional drill results of its latest program at the Golden Mile South Project. More than 10,000m of aircore drilling was completed and consisted of infill drilling at the Lakeside Prospect and regional drilling over the greater Lakeside area and Hannan’s South Extension.

The regional aircore drilling was undertaken to systematically test the NW area of the Golden Mile South Project and to identify additional anomalous gold in bedrock zones which could be targeted for follow‐up drilling. A total of 138 drill holes were completed for 8,111 metres of drilling.

Widespread anomalous gold (>20 ppb Au) in bedrock within the greater Lakeside area has been defined, including three new zones of significant gold mineralisation (>200 ppb Au (>0.2g/t)). These zones include two to the north of the previously identified Lakeside Prospect ( Lakeside North ) and a third to the south ( Lakeside South ).

Results from the infill drilling at the Lakeside Prospect were received earlier and Orrex reported that drilling in this area defined a gold mineralised zone of alteration. The Company is currently carrying out an RC drill program at the Lakeside Prospect (refer to announcement on 5 September 2011).

Lakeside North

At Lakeside North, eighty‐six holes were drilled for 4,946 metres. A number of significant drill results have been returned in both weathered bedrock and cover.

Two areas of significant gold mineralisation have been defined and are within the broader N to NNE trending anomalous zones (Targets A & B – see Figure 1).

Target A is located NE of the Lakeside Prospect area and along strike of the interpreted NE control on mineralisation. The best result was intersected in hole 11LKA508 (6m @ 602 ppb Au). Target B is located NNW of the Lakeside Prospect adjacent to the western boundary of project area. The best result was in hole 11LKA548 (4m @ 407 ppb Au) in lower saprolite/saprock.

Lakeside South

Thirty‐six holes were completed for 2,009 metres at Lakeside South. A number of significant drill results have been returned in both weathered bedrock and cover.

Drilling has defined one area of significant gold mineralisation (Target C – see Figure 1) within the Lakeside South area. The target is defined over two lines at the 200 ppb Au contour, trending in a NE orientation. The best results were intersected in holes 11LKA583 (7m @ 796 ppb Au) and 11LKA592 (7m @ 414 ppb Au).

Orrex Managing Director, Sonja Felderhof, commented: “We are pleased with the results of the regional program as it defined three new zones of gold mineralisation for further investigation. Orrex is currently awaiting the results of its RC program which is our highest priority.”

Yours Faithfully,
