Flyr introduces newest generation of Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet

Flyr is taking a new and important step towards a more sustainable operation by

phasing in the very latest aircraft technology with the lowest carbon footprint

and fuel costs. On average, the Boeing 737-8 emits up to 14 percent less

emissions than previous models. Today, the company has signed a letter of intent

with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) for six brand-new Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

The aircraft will be delivered directly from the Boeing factory to Flyr during

the first half of 2022. There is also an option in the agreement for four more

aircraft with delivery in 2023.

"The decision to choose the latest generation of brand-new Boeing aircraft is in

line with the authorities' goal of a more sustainable development in aviation.

At the same time, we are happy to deliver on customers' desire to fly the latest

aircraft with the lowest emissions. The new aircraft type contributes on average

with an emission saving of up to 14 percent compared to previous models," said

CEO Tonje Wikstrøm Frislid of Flyr.

Sustainability is an essential part of Flyr's strategy. Always choosing the most

climate-friendly solutions is crucial. So is the company's approach to employees

and unions.

«Flyr is Norway's new and responsible airline. Our business is based on the

Norwegian model with permanent and direct employment based on collective

bargaining agreements and extensive involvement of employees," said Wikstrøm

Frislid.

As a newly established airline, Flyr is the only airline in Norway that pays for

100% of its emissions under the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), in contrast

to other domestic airlines that receive large exemptions in the form of free

allocation of emission allowances.

Unions positive about new aircraft

Both Flyr Cabin Association and Flyr Pilot Association are positive about the

company's choice of new aircraft type.

"Choosing brand new aircraft shows that Flyr takes sustainability and comfort

seriously. This is the right choice for the future, both from a technology and

environmental perspective. The reports we've seen from the International

Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations, indicate that we have something to

look forward to," said Espen Poulsen from Flyr Pilot Association.

"These new planes have clear customer and crew advantages, not least due to

lower noise on board and a better cabin environment"  said Robin Dybvik from

Flyr Cabin Association.

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing and the leasing company Air Lease Corporation

(ALC) are pleased about Flyr's decision to transition to the most

environmentally friendly option.

"We are pleased that Flyr has decided to transition to the 737-8 as it continues

to grow its fleet. The 737-8 will help Flyr reduce its operating costs by

cutting fuel consumption and lowering noise and CO2 emissions," said Ricardo

Cavero, Vice President Europe Sales & Marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

"ALC is pleased to announce this lease placement for six 737-8 aircraft with new

customer, Flyr, and be a part of the airline's development," said Steven F.

Norway, Flyr's experienced management team in combination with a modern system

makes the airline highly competitive in today's market.  These new 737-8s from

ALC will provide the most modern, fuel-efficient and technologically advanced

aircraft to assure economical flight operations, provide maximum passenger

comfort and convenience, and advance Flyr's environmental and sustainability

goals."

The plan is that the first aircraft will arrive in early 2022 and arrive

continuously towards the summer.
