Für den Inhalt der Mitteilung ist allein der Emittent verantwortlich. —————————————————————————— Flughafen Wien Group Strong Progress The publicly traded Flughafen Wien AG can look back on an particularly good first quarter of 1999. Strong growth in turnover – despite the loss of a large part of traffic handling revenues – and a decline in expenses led to an operating profit of ATS 258 million, an increase of 35.9% or ATS 68 million. Profit on ordinary activities rose by 34.4% to ATS 300 million. After deducting taxes totaling ATS 101 million, net profit for the first quarter amounted to ATS 199 million, an increase of 31.3% over the comparable period in 1998. Lower rates of growth were experienced in April and this has continued into May. The conflict in the Balkans and lower demand for holidays in Turkey lie behind the slower growth. In spite of this situation Flughafen Wien AG expects average traffic growth of slightly in excess of 5% for the year as a whole.
