FLIGHT CENTRE TRAVEL GROUP FORMALLY COMPLETES ASIA DMC DEAL

THE Flight Centre Travel Group (FLT) has formally completed its acquisition of a larger interest in the new Asia-based destination management company it has created in conjunction with Vietnam's Thien Minh Group (TMG).

The deal, which was announced on March 31, has seen:

• TMG transfer its Buffalo Tours business in Vietnam into the joint venture (JV) destination management company that FLT and TMG operate in 10 other countries; and

• FLT immediately increase its ownership interest from 49% of the smaller JV to 58.5% of the new Asia-wide business, which is expected to turn over in the order of $US70million during the 2017 calendar year

Agreements are in place for FLT to increase its ownership in the future

In addition to extending their relationship in Asia, FLT and TMG have agreed to work together in other regions to create a global destination management company (DMC).

Services provided by the DMC will include transfers, excursions and day-trips, arrangements for meetings and incentive groups and land arrangements for cruises and other tour groups.
