The issuer has the sole responsibility of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Silicon Sensor reports positive year-end result for core business (manufacture of optoelectronic sensors) Consolidated sales rose 92% Group performance affected by growth, expansion and establishing U.S production sites During the financial year 2000 (ending Dec. 31), the Silicon Sensor Group increased the annual surplus for its core business, the manufacture of optoelectronic sensors, by 162% – from EUR 103,000 to EUR 273,000. Core activity sales rose 44% (to EUR 4.29 million from EUR 2.97 million in 1999). There was a 92% increase in consolidated turnover, from EUR 2.97 million (1999) to EUR 5.7 million. Group results were affected by preparations for expansion and extra growth in the applications sector (Silicon instruments GmbH), and by investment in U.S. production sites (Pacific Silicon Sensor Inc.), both budgeted. Consolidated loss amounted to EUR 0.99 million (DVFA profit 1999: EUR 0.30 million). Back orders for the group rose by 81%. from von EUR 2.1 million to EUR 3.8 million. The number of employees worldwide now stands at 110, of these 7 outside Germany (1999: 42). The acquisition in 2000 of Lewicki microelectronic GmbH, a highly profitable enterprise, marked another step forward for the Group on its way to becoming a Global Player in the field of custom-designed sensor systems, with synergistic effects contributing to further growth and cost cutting.
