Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers

On October 8, 2021, Mr. Calixto García-Vélez notified First BanCorp (the “Corporation”), the bank holding company of FirstBank Puerto Rico (the “Bank”), of his intention to resign as the Bank’s Executive Vice President and Florida Region Executive. The effective date of Mr. García-Vélez resignation was October 12, 2021. Mr. García-Vélez resignation was not a result of any disagreements with the Corporation or the Bank, and we thank him for his service.
