PETROCHINA<00857> - Suspension of Trading At the request of PetroChina Company Limited, trading in its H shares has been suspended with effect from 9:30 a.m. today (31/8/2005) pending the release of an announcement regarding a placing of H shares under the general mandate granted to the Board of Directors at the annual general meeting of the Company on 26 May 2005 to issue up to 20% of the aggregate nominal amount of the Company's H shares in issue on that date, being not exceeding 3,516,483.6 thousand H shares.
