APPOINTMENT OF DR IAN F. BURSTON AS SPECIALIST OPERATIONS CONSULTANT TO THE BOARD

Emergent Resources Limited (ASX: EMG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Ian F. Burston as a specialist Operations Consultant to the Board of Directors, taking effect immediately.

The appointment will provide the Board with Dr Burston’s lifelong experience in the iron ore mining industry from project start-up to optimal production and operating joint ventures.

Dr Burston’s appointment will enhance the present skill set of the Emergent team, particularly during the next vital stage of the Company’s transformation from successful explorer to miner of high quality iron ore from its rapidly developing Beyondie Iron Ore Project in conjunction with proposed joint venture partners, Beijing China Metallurgical Investment Co. Ltd (CMIC).

Dr Burston has more than 30 years of top level experience in Western Australian and international iron ore mining and export sales. He has held executive management and Board positions with some of WA’s largest and most successful mining operations. His distinguished career includes several multi-million tonnes per year exporting operations with outstanding track records in maximising production, transport efficiencies and project development. He has also held major roles in industry associations and local government.

He was awarded Citizen of the Year (Industry and Commerce) 1992, Member of the Order of Australia (General Division) 1993, and Honorary Doctor of Science (Curtin) 1995. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers of Australia, the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Institute of Company Directors.

On his appointment Dr Burston said: “Most of my working life has been devoted to the mining industry. I have taken a keen interest in observing the remarkable progress that the Emergent team has made since its ASX listing in August 2008. There is no doubt that Emergent is now entering an exciting and strategic development phase. I hope to contribute significantly to this pursuit through my consultancy.”
