The Platform Group AG: Acquisition of Herbertz GmbH, Solingen
Düsseldorf, 24 February 2025. The Platform Group AG (ISIN DE000A2QEFA1 , “ TPG ”), a leading software company for platform solutions, based in Solingen, Germany. A contract for 100% of the company’s shares was signed in February 2025. The seller was the Swiss Commerce Group based in Langenthal (Switzerland). The transaction is based on an asset deal agreement in which all assets and liabilities will be transferred. Closing is expected in early March 2025. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Founded in 1868 in Solingen, Germany, C. Jul. Herbertz focuses on the online distribution of outdoor products, including knives, drinking bottles, lamps and outdoor items. Products for more than 30 international manufacturers are distributed throughout Europe via online channels. In addition, an extensive logistics center is located in Gladbeck.
Marc Schiefelbusch, Managing Director at Herbertz : “We are delighted that Herbertz, as a traditional company with an online focus, will have TPG as a partner from now on. Starting March, the TPG team will support us in making Herbertz even better known in the retail and online sectors. And for the first time, we are also expanding our channels for external partners in order to implement a platform strategy for the future.“
The aim of the acquisition of Herbertz GmbH is to establish the outdoor products segment as a platform for the first time, to connect new partners and to enable stationary retailers and manufacturers to tap into additional sales potential through online sales.
