Brief Profile of Mr. Indra nil Chatterjee

Mr. Indranil Chatterjee holds a Bachelor's degree in Production Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and an Advanced Management Diploma from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.

He brings over three decades of deep and hands-on experience m manufacturing excellence, operational leadership, project management, and business transformation across sectors such as FMCG, industrial ceramics, and automobiles. His core expertise lies in large-scale operations, capacity expansion, process optimization, cost leadership, and adoption of global manufacturing best practices.

Mr. Chatterjee joined Exide Industries Limited in 2014 as Head of the Two-Wheeler Battery Manufacturing Facility in Haryana and subsequently led the Shyamnagar manufacturing unit in West Bengal. He later served as Chief Manufacturing - Industrial, with end-to-end responsibility for three major manufacturing locations at Haldia, Shyamnagar, and Hosur (Tamil Nadu).

Immediately prior to his current role as Executive Vice President & Head - Operations, Mr. Chatterjee served as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Chloride Metals Limited, a I 00% subsidiary of Exide Industries Limited. Under his leadership, Chloride Metals Limited significantly scaled up its recycling operations and successfully implemented several trend-setting initiatives, including Producer Gas systems, Integrated Battery Breaking Units, and Plastic Recycling facilities. Operating through three state-of-the-art manufacturing plants located at Haldia, Malur, and Supa, the company today records a turnover in excess of t6,000 crore and has earned the distinction of being one of the largest smelters in Asia.

Mr. Chatterjee played a pivotal role in pos1t1oning Chloride Metals Limited as a strategic differentiator for meeting the BWMR (Battery Waste Management Rules) requirements of Exide Industries Limited. Under his stewardship, the business evolved into a best-in-class supplier of lead, lead alloys, and recycled plastics, delivering high-quality, sustainable inputs to its customers.

Earlier in his career, he held pivotal roles at organizations such as Eveready Industries, Aditya Birla Group, and Hindustan National Glass, and has been instrumental in transforming manufacturing operations in line with evolving global standards and requirements.
