TILL Photonics and Evotec Technologies announce Collaboration Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Released at the “LASER 2003. World of Photonics” International Trade Fair in Munich: TILL Photonics becomes supplier and partner of choice of Evotec Technologies Hamburg/Munich, Germany – TILL Photonics GmbH, developer, manufacturer and supplier of innovative components and turn-key solutions for fluorescence microscopy, and Evotec Technologies GmbH, a subsidiary of Evotec OAI AG, supplier of innovative technologies for the life sciences, announced a development and supply partnership. The essence of the cooperation is that TILL Photonics will provide a microscopy platform based on their iMIC to Evotec Technologies for their instrumentation. The iMIC concept, a joint development between TILL Photonics and its academic partner, the BioImaging Center of the LMU (Munich), was first demonstrated last autumn; the iMIC is now in its second stage of evolution. It is distinguished by great modularity and can be adapted to a very wide range of applications in automated microscopy. Furthermore, it is scalable and can be configured into systems ranging from simple ones with light source and one CCD camera up to highly complex wide-field/laser-scanning hybrids that provide the switching between multiple incoherent and coherent light sources. Further key features include polychromatic excitation as well as emission and real-time imaging with the highest spatial and temporal resolution. Instruments from Evotec Technologies are most prominently deployed in pharmaceutical drug discovery and life science industries. The special strengths of Evotec are in automated detection and analysis at the molecular and cellular levels, management of the most minute volumes of liquids, and methods and software for extremely fast, automated data analysis. “Our close collaboration with basic research partners for research-driven competence is a good basis for the step that TILL Photonics must take in the future, seeking access to industrial markets. It therefore makes sense to seek synergies and to combine our strengths with those of complementary and strategic partners that already have presence in these markets. It gives us great pleasure to have found such a partner in Evotec, and we are confident we can fulfill Evotec’s requirements,” said Prof. Dr. Rainer Uhl, CEO of TILL Photonics. “The cooperation with TILL Photonics is a further important step towards developing and manufacturing our products with competent strategic partners. We now require long-term, reliable system partners for the instrumentation for cell biology that we have introduced over the last 12 months. The proposed solution from TILL is distinguished by a high level of modularity, so that the requirements arising from the market since our product introduction can be met with flexibility. Their close proximity to the University of Munich where they have collaborations on applications is a further plus of this cooperation,” said Prof. Dr. Carsten Claussen, CEO of Evotec Technologies. Further information about TILL Photonics and Evotec Technologies, as well as their complete respective product ranges, can be found on the following websites: www.till-photonics.com www.evotec-technologies.com TILL Photonics GmbH TILL Photonics GmbH develops and markets opto-electronic instrumentation for fluorescence microscopy as used in fundamental research, applied science and diagnostics. The equipment, which is based on several patents for confocal and conventional fluorescence microscopes, is developed in collaboration with the BioImaging Zentrum (BIZ) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. The success of TILL Photonics in the scientific and emerging “biotech” markets is based on our highly competent and experienced team which facilitates collaboration with several leading German research institutions. We provide our customers with extremely flexible, modular systems for all current and future microscopy standards – and complete turnkey solutions for imaging and photometry systems. The majority of TILL’s customers are found in the fields of neurobiology, cell biology, biomedicine and pharmacology. We are a key supplier to the global fluorescence microscopy market. The success of TILL Photonics is illustrated by our rapid growth from a small R&D shop in 1993 to a global supplier of microscopy systems today. The company’s headquarters are located in the Munich BioRegio (Germany) and California (USA). Evotec Technologies GmbH Evotec Technologies GmbH (ET) is a subsidiary of Evotec OAI focussed on technology development and instrumentation. ET has established a powerful engine for converting customer’s needs from prototypes into industrialised applications for life sciences laboratories. The Company provides state-of-the- art automated and miniaturised processes that result in extremely high data content and quality output by seamlessly integrating hardware, software and bioware modules. ET’s current portfolio comprises its established uHTS EVOscreen system for large pharmaceutical companies and a product line of innovative bench-top instruments, consumables and reagents. These solutions are based on our broad patent portfolio, scientific excellence – from drug discovery to diagnostics – and technical know-how. ET’s particular strengths are in detection and analysis in molecular dimensions, liquid handling of minimal volumes and high-speed interpretation methods and software. Evotec Technologies employs 80 people, primarily at its main site in Hamburg, Germany. Subsidiaries are located in Düsseldorf and Berlin.
