EVOLUTION APPOINTS NEW VP DISCOVERY & CHIEF GEOLOGIST

Evolution Mining Limited (ASX: EVN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Roric Smith as Vice President Discovery and Chief Geologist commencing with the Company on 1 November 2012.

Commenting on the appointment, Evolution Executive Chairman, Jake Klein, said:

“We are delighted to have someone of Roric’s expertise and track record of discovery success join Evolution. His primary responsibility will be to lead a highly motivated team initially in expanding our resource and reserve base as we ramp up our exploration activities with a A$28 million spend in FY2013. Evolution has a strategic landholding of over 4,000km[2] within multimillion ounce gold provinces in Queensland and Western Australia and is committed to exploration as a central part of its growth strategy”.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Smith said:

“The opportunity to contribute to the growth of Evolution through value-adding resource expansion, discoveries and strategic acquisitions is very exciting and I look forward to working with the team to achieve the Company’s potential.”

Dr Smith has 25 years of experience in senior technical and management roles both locally and internationally within the gold sector, most recently as Senior Vice-President Global Greenfield Exploration at AngloGold Ashanti (“AGA”). At AGA, he led the company’s exploration efforts across the Americas, Africa, Middle East, Australia, North Asia and Southeast Asia, where he was responsible for strategy, project generation and discovery.

Prior to this he held various roles with AGA in China and Mongolia, including Exploration Manager North Asia and Chief Representative for AGA in China. In Australia he has held senior roles with both AGA and Normandy Mining, during which time he worked on both operations and exploration projects across Australia.

Dr Smith’s specialist geology skills have contributed to understanding of structural controls in orogenic and epithermal systems, leading to new discoveries and increases in resources in a number of regions, including Australasia, Africa and South America.

He holds a BSc, BSc Hons and PhD in Geology from the University of Natal and is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.
