Europris: trading update Q2 2020
In the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, a number of Norwegian retail sectors have
experienced a sharp rise in demand driven by changed consumer behaviour as a
result of strict infection control measures. Given the attention paid to them in
recent days, Europris would confirm that - in line with other market players -
the company has also been affected by these developments. The company can report
an overall growth in sales of 33.9 per cent for the months of April and May.
Consolidated sales for these two months were NOK 1,462 million, compared with
NOK 1,092 million for the same period of 2019.
It is too early to draw any conclusions about the long-term impact of Covid-19,
but Europris assumes that the most unusual effects are behind the company. Such
an unusually sharp rise in demand has naturally placed great pressure on the
company's delivery systems and yielded some additional costs.
Europris will provide further details in connection with the presentation of its
results for the second quarter of 2020 on 10 July 2020.
