2014/2015 Annual Revenue €227.5 million up 7% compared to the previous year

Over €227.5 million annual revenue, primarily driven by the performance of International Sales (Lucy, Taken 3) and Cinemas, France distribution (around 11 million admissions).

Saint-Denis, 26 May 2015 – EuropaCorp, the producer and distributor of feature films and one of the leading independent film studios in Europe, today announces its annual consolidated revenue (unaudited) for its 2014/2015 financial year, which ended on 31 March 2015.

Q4 Revenue 2014/2015

Revenue for the 4th quarter of FY2014/2015 was €67.1 million. The quarter was marked mainly by the release in France and internationally of the films Taken 3 and Bis, the latest comedy by Dominique Farrugia.

  • International Sales alone represent more than 35% of the quarterly revenue (€23.9 million). This mainly reflects ongoing international deliveries of Taken 3 and the first royalties generated by the film Lucy.
  • Cinemas, France reported €11.8 million revenue over the quarter, driven by the strong performance of Taken 3 and Bis which have attracted around 2.7 and 1.5 million admissions to date, respectively.
  • Video, France segment generated €2.7 million revenue, mainly driven by ongoing Video and VOD sales of Lucy and by the release of the film Saint Laurent.
  • Directly connected with the contractual opening dates of the broadcasting rights windows, Television, France sales generated a total of €12.6 million revenue over the quarter.
  • The Multiplexes business continues to grow with revenue (€1.6 million for the quarter) higher than in previous quarters.
  • Subsidies contributed €4.4 million over the quarter, in particular due to the success of the French box office during the quarter.
  • Revenue from TV Series segment was €7.8 million. This mainly corresponds to the delivery of four television films.

Detailed breakdown of quarterly revenue (unaudited)

Revenue for the 2014/2015 fiscal year was €227.5 million

  • Revenue for International Sales totals €95.7 million, compared to €112 million in the previous year. Sales were mainly driven by the international rights of English language films such as Lucy, Taken 3 and Brick Mansions, and by the first royalties from Lucy, as well as those from catalogue films (especially Three Days To Kill, Malavita (The Family), Colombiana and Transporter 3).
  • With the release of 8 films in the FY2014/2015, Cinemas, France sales totalled €29.2 million, up 180% compared to the previous year. This was mainly driven by the success of Lucy (over 5.3 million French admissions), Taken 3 (almost 2.7 million French admissions) and Bis (over 1.5 million French admissions to date). Overall, films distributed by the EuropaCorp Group in France during the fiscal year attracted around 11 million admissions.

  • Revenue from TV Series segment reached €32.8 million. The sales were mainly generated by the delivery to TF1 of season 3 of No Limit, the international rights of the series Taxi Brooklyn, and the delivery of seven television films.

  • The Video, France segment, with revenues of €13.7 million, mainly benefited from the video releases of Lucy, I did It Again, Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart, Brick Mansions, and The Homesman as well as continued sales of catalogue films.
  • Television, France sales reported annual revenue of €29.1 million, which corresponds to various broadcast windows opening during the financial year of new films (particularly Malavita (The Family) and Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart) and dynamic catalogue sales (Taken 2, the 'TheTransporter' trilogy, …).
  • Revenue from Subsidies totalled €10.4 million.
  • Events segment generated €4.4 million revenue from events organised both within and outside the Cité du Cinéma during the fiscal year.
  • Multiplexes reported €5.8 million revenue. This segment grew steadily and corresponds to the income generated by the first EuropaCorp Cinemas in the Aéroville shopping center.
  • Other activities (€6.4 million) were mainly driven by partnerships, music publishing, brand-content and postproduction activities.

Outlook

The Transporter: Refuelled, directed by Camille Delamarre and starring Ed Skrein in the leading role, will be released in the United States by EuropaCorp Films USA (via Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution) in early September 2015.

The film Shut In, with Naomi Watts in the leading role, set to be released in February 2016, is in post-production.

Other high-potential English-language films have recently entered production. Shooting of The Lake, written and producted by Luc Besson and directed by Steven Quale (Into the Storm) with Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire) in the leading role began late April.

Shooting for the next Barry Sonnenfeld film entitled Nine Lives, with Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Garner and Christopher Walken, started in early May (for release late April 2016), as did filming for Warriors Gate, the first French-Chinese coproduction by EuropaCorp and Fundamental Films with Uriah Shelton and directed by Matthias Hoene.

Shooting of Escobar, directed by Fernando Leon de Aranoa, starring Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, will begin in October 2015. EuropaCorp announced recently that Jean-François Richet (Mesrine) will direct Twice, a new Englishlanguage action film.

Then, the new science-fiction film directed by Luc Besson, Valerian, was announced during the last Cannes Festival. Based on the French graphic novel Valérian and Laureline, Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne will play the leading roles.

As for French-language productions, the comedy A Love You, award winner at the Alpe d'Huez Festival, is scheduled for release in June 2015, and Sandrine Kiberlain's next film directed by Benoît Graffin, is currently in post-production.

In terms of TV Series, the production of Section Zéro, directed by Olivier Marchal for Canal+, started recently. Two new English-language TV series are currently developed and are being discussed with US broadcasters.
