Saint-Denis, 8 August 2020 - Following the completion of the capital increases reserved for certain Vine funds, the Board of Directors of EuropaCorp, during its meeting held on 8 August 2020, unanimously appointed Mr Axel Duroux to the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Group, on the recommendation of the Remuneration and Nominations Committee. He will join EuropaCorp as of 1 September 2020.
The Board of Directors also unanimously decided, also on the recommendation of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee, to separate the functions of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EuropaCorp, with Mr Axel Duroux acting as Chief Executive Officer and Mr Luc Besson acting solely as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, in order to focus henceforth, as announced on 28 February 2020, on the Group's artistic activities as Artistic Director. In addition, the Board of Directors will submit the appointment of Mr Axel Duroux as Director of EuropaCorp to the next general meeting of shareholders.
Since 2017, Mr Axel Duroux was Senior Partner and Head of the Paris office of Brunswick Group.
Prior to that, he was Executive Vice-President of Publicis Group, responsible for emerging and Fast-Growing markets from 2014 to 2017. He was also Chief Executive Officer of RTL Radio (France) from 2004 to 2009 and served as Managing Director of TF1 Group (formerly Television Française 1) until October 2009. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Endemol Development and Senior Vice President of Endemol France from 2000 to 2004. Mr Axel Duroux began his career as a photojournalist, then television news reporter and host, before heading the press department of IBM France.
He was Chairman (from 2017 to 2019) and member of the Supervisory Board of EuroDisney (from 2013 to 2019). He served as a Director of the INA (French National Audiovisual Institute) and Stereopictures SPK (Korea). He served as a member of the Supervisory Board at M6 (Metropole Television M6) from 2007 to 2009.
Born in Lyon, France, Mr Axel Duroux is of French-Swiss nationality. He holds a master's degree in international law and a PhD degree in political science. He is also a graduate of the French Press Institute.
