ASX Announcement

ETHERSTACK PLC [ASX:ESK]

("Etherstack" or the "Company")

US Public Safety Contract Win

Etherstack, the specialist in mission critical radio solutions, is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, Etherstack Inc has been awarded a contract to supply a new digital radio network for public safety and emergency services personnel in the State of Idaho.

Highlights

  • Contract to supply a new mission critical public safety network

  • Etherstack’s third public safety network deployed in State of Idaho shows the confidence first responders have in the Company’s solutions

  • Contract negotiated by long term Etherstack partner Teton Communications

  • Follows Etherstack’s recently announced $1.8m EBITDA for FY2018

The new public safety radio network (“network”) is based on the APCO P25 digital radio standard which is the primary standard used by state and federal public safety agencies and electric utilities in the US, Canada, Australia and many other countries.

The network will be the 3[rd] public safety network deployed by Etherstack in the State of Idaho. Previous networks include the 5-County Emergency Services Network (ESN) as well as the Naval Reactor Facility at the Idaho National Laboratory.

The ESN was deployed in 2010 and continues to operate flawlessly. The ESN is a shared “multiagency” digital radio network that provides mission critical communications services to thousands of first responders across five counties every day. The reliability of the ESN underpins the trust first responders have in Etherstack’s solutions.

Etherstack CEO, David Deacon, said “For the past decade, Etherstack and Teton Communications have provided the highest level of mission critical radio services possible to the communities served by our solution in Idaho. This latest win underscores the confidence that the US first responder community has in our solutions.”

Tony Hafla, President of Teton Communications Inc., said “The partnership and support from Etherstack over the past decade has been fantastic. We are proud to be able to collectively provide the citizens of the State of Idaho the best mission critical radio solution available today and look forward to further successes together.”

The Idaho 5-County ESN also supports an open standard inter-system interface, known as the ISSI, that allows digital radio networks manufactured by different vendors to provide interoperability between first responders across different networks. This particular installation of the ISSI is the world’s first and therefore longest continually deployed interface of this type.

Each agency has their own emergency despatch consoles that connect via the CSSI standard to the ESN, allowing different agencies to use their preferred consoles sourced from different vendors within industry, avoiding “vendor lock-in”.

The ISSI standard is gaining rapid traction around the world as the preferred interoperability standard for existing P25 based digital radio networks and evolving push-to-talk (PTT) over cellular networks.
