ASX Announcement
ETHERSTACK PLC [ASX:ESK]
("Etherstack" or the "Company")
US DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR DIGITAL RADIO NETWORK WIN
Etherstack plc is pleased to advise that its US subsidiary (Etherstack Inc.) in conjunction with its distribution partner, Icom America, has won a tender for the supply of a multi-site digital radio network for the US Bureau of Reclamation (BOR). The BOR is a division of the US Department of Interior that is responsible for water management in the 17 western states, and has constructed over 600 dams including the Hoover Dam in its over 100-year history. The BOR is the largest water wholesaler and 2[nd] largest producer of hydroelectric power in the US.
The US win by Icom America builds upon Etherstack’s growing government agency digital radio network base in North America. The type of technology to be deployed is known as a P25 trunked radio network which is used by many public safety and utility organisations around the world. Etherstack has deployed such networks in the US, Canada, Australia, Russia and Ukraine.
“We are very pleased to be deploying this P25 trunked radio system with our partner Icom America” said Etherstack CEO, David Deacon, “It represents a new stage for our joint co-operation in the North American markets”.
Icom America’s President, Mr Hiroshi Nakaoka said, “The US Bureau of Reclamation win demonstrates Icom America’s growing presence in APCO P25 and the delivery of complex digital radio networks for the government radio community. We look forward to serving the Bureau in their mission to manage and protect water resources for the American public.”
The P25 digital radio network includes open interfaces conforming to the ISSI and CSSI standards which will allow the Bureau to connect its digital radio network to other regional P25 radio networks allowing interoperability between its employees and other agencies.
This network is Etherstack’s second US federal government network win in the past 12 months, following on from an award with the Naval Reactors Facility announced in October last year.
